I loved how haunting, beautiful and disturbing Neil Gaiman's short story collection - Smoke and Mirrors, was to read. I have to share this story because it's what left me scarred the most, because it was written for PETA, and to share how great Neil Gaiman is. I'll post the link to the comics version of this story.

WARNING: This story is not for the faint-hearted.

A few years back all the animals went away.

We woke up one morning, and they just weren't there anymore.  They didn't even leave us a note, or say goodbye.  We never figured out quite where they'd gone.

We missed them.

Some of us thought that the world had ended, but it hadn't.  There just weren't any more animals.  No cats or rabbits, no dogs or whales, no fish in the seas, no birds in the skies.

We were all alone.

We didn't know what to do.

We wandered around lost, for a time, and then someone pointed out that just because we didn't have animals anymore, that was no reason to change our lives.  No reason to change our diets or to cease testing products that might cause us harm.

After all, there were still babies.

Babies can't talk.  They can hardly move.  A baby is not a rational, thinking creature.

We made babies.

And we used them.

Some of them we ate.  Baby flesh is tender and succulent.

We flayed their skin and decorated ourselves in it.  Baby leather is soft and comfortable.

Some of them we tested.

We taped open their eyes, dripped detergents and shampoos in, a drop at a time.

We scarred them and scalded them.  We burnt them.  We clamped them and planted electrodes into their brains.  We grafted, and we froze, and we irradiated.

The babies breathed our smoke, and the babies' veins flowed with our medicines and drugs, until they stopped breathing or until their blood ceased to flow.

It was hard, of course, but it was necessary.

No one could deny that.

With the animals gone, what else could we do?

Some people complained, of course.  But then, they always do.

And everything went back to normal.

Only...

Yesterday, all the babies were gone.

We don't know where they went.  We didn't even see them go.

We don't know what we're going to do without them.

But we'll think of something.  Humans are smart.  It's what makes us superior to the animals and the babies.

We'll figure something out.

Never let quotes and songs justify wrong doings, infidelity and stupidity.

That's my rule. Be inspired but use your head. Just because what you are doing or feeling is written attractively does not make it right.

Likewise, quotes and songs should not be taken as advices.

Weigh your options, do what is best for everyone involved, and do what is right.

Winds of change; we change we wait; change is the only thing constant in the world; when we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves; Change; we don’t like it, we fear it, but we can't stop it from coming. We either adapt to change or we get left behind. And it hurts to grow, anybody who tells you it doesn’t is lying. But here's the truth...the more things change, the more they stay the same. And sometimes, oh, sometimes change is good. Oh, sometimes, change is...everything.

All those warnings, advices, and quotes.. Why can't we ever be prepared for change then?

Why do people always say, "Follow your heart"?

I never thought this made sense. I mean how can you even classify and divide what your heart and your mind says? The heart's functions don't include love, silly people :p Your emotions are controlled by this little part of your brain.

"I love you from the bottom of my brain"

School just started. I love our hotel campus. Each toilet cubicle has a mirror on the wall! And there's a chocolatier, etc. etc. etc.

Dear elder sister, if you are reading this I need  help telling mom bout the Bohol trip.

-end of irrelevant thoughts-

i love that he notices every little detail..

i love it when he randomly says it...

i love that he's happy when i do little things..

i love the way he looks at me like i'm the only girl in the room..

i love it when his smile just says it all...

i love finding that trace of excitement and happiness in his voice when i tell him.....

i love that when i ask him to just wake me up if i'm still not online.. he won't call me to wake me up.. because he doesnt want me tired

i love that he can tell the world he's in love

i love sitting down with him without having to say anything yet when we leave.. it feels like the best conversation yet..

i love it when he stays in our class even though he'd be late for his next one...

i love that he likes old music as well

i love the way he'd say just says goodbye yet you see more to that in his eyes..

i love it when he replies really randomly to what i say and end up saying the corniest things and it gives me butterflies...

i love it when he gets to that dramatic mode.. hehe

i love that he's been counting the days...

i love the way it is.. i'm so happy.. it SCARES me... but then.. "we'll make it worth it".. and.. "when every second counts.." "always"

  • I miss walking to Al Jazira with my brother and whoever is over at our place (Diana, Agot, JC or Cye) to buy baking ingredients then walking back home to bake brownies/make crepe/pancakes
  • I remember how tiring it was walking to Funland from Agot's, playing around, iceskating at times, walking to McDonald's and back til like 10pm but we did that every weekend anyway
  • Manama with the moms in the morning = super fun!
  • I remember trying strawberry milk + Frosties with my brother and fxck that was horrible
  • Angelina Jolie has the best movie roles ever
  • I will never forget the day Agot, Carlo and I walked to water garden and rode the Pirate

Well basically I'm just writing stuff that crossed my mind these past few days :) Again, nothing deep in this entry. Pardon Me.

Mr. Mayer, you are the only one who can write and sing a song about the excitement for sex and get away with it sounding totally sweet and romantic. Kudos.

I found these vandalisms on school grounds, one near the back gate of DLS-CSB main and 2 others near St. Scho. I don't know if there are more near DLSU, if they'd had the guts to even try.

This is an all time low. How pathetic is it that you have to vandalize on other school property? This just puts the whole "Iskolar ng Bayan" to shame.
